Shadow The protagonist is David, a young American veteran from Iraq who try to leave behind the horrors of war, riding his mountain bike, the thick forests of Europe, in a remote location and difficult to follow, except by experts. However, in a secluded inn is forced to defend the beautiful Angeline by the attentions of two shady thugs, who hunted in the wrong way from the room, suggest that the issue is not closed. The same night, due to a blizzard, David finds himself with the tent blown away by the wind and is greeted by Angeline, who offers him refuge in his Canadian. Lying to share the love of nature and adventurous mountain biking, born between the two special something that will suddenly interrupted by a new meeting with Fred and Buck, the two hunters who had annoyed the girl at the inn and left something that moves with confidence in the dense vegetation. of this film if they have talked so much, more to the alleged value symbolic than for artistic merit. The same Zampaglione - yes, that of Tiromancino - proclaimed him more or less the point of restart of Italian horror cinema.

In the end I decided to see it, of course, streaming, since Shadow had a distribution shameful to say the least, not at all in accordance with the tam-tam of the Web A demerit that goes far beyond the value intrinsic film. If the films do not make them see, we can hardly judge them. Once again San Streaming I came to the rescue, though I remain certain that the cinema films have an undeniable value.

Honest, not exceptional, but well shot.

Zampaglione have done your homework and know the kind. Not a small feat, believe me, with so many upstart you improvise writers / singers / actors etc, I have the greatest respect for who has the respect of "study" the first craft to seek the glory.

That said, the film will undoubtedly immortal horror myths, probably even those of Italian cinema. Too much standard in the diagrams, without flashes of originality or genius. A little 'torture-movie a bit' not Texas Chainsaw Massacre , with a finale that veers sharply toward the paranormal (so to speak), or so suggests.

However the film is enjoyable, more in the first half hour, in which the suggestions of spectral and semi-desert mountains reign supreme. Wind, woods, night landscapes, old legends, all very beautiful and well chosen, so that seems to be a novel by Eraldo Baldini or Danilo Arona.

From there on, the film becomes a sort of Hostel darker and without the slightest breath of dark humor (this is good). The bad is cruel to the right place and has a physical appearance that puts some excitement for real. Not to mention the place where he lives, a sort of ancient house where traces of the worst crimes of humanity filmed (with an eye on Uncle Adolf).

In all honesty, I must admit that this genre of horror cinema is certainly not among my favorites, so my enthusiasm was not particularly stimulated the idea to tackle a story like that. Without the accounts I'm not disappointed, however, evidence that the story in its own way, it works. In spite of the many "ifs" and many "but" understood that ending that continues to convince in half.

place everything we can speak of the rebirth of Italian genre cinema?

really.

No, because elsewhere, in France, Spain, Scandinavia, the horror and the fantastic produce good films repeatedly, for years now. There are ideas, there is no audience, there are bigger budgets and, wonder of wonders, there is also the desire to break the mold and offer something new. Or at least variations of plot and narrative innovations older. And, most importantly, you are creating a tradition, which is dead here in the first 80, or a millennium ago.
